This role is like no other available to a tax professional in the market. Koinly.io is looking for a Head of Tax to be a centralised point of authority on Canada’s Tax regulations, particularly, Cryptocurrency and Blockchain Transactions, as well as speaking on behalf of Koinly at associations, in the media and at events. This role represents the Koinly brand in Canada, and it is an opportunity to work alongside a broad range of organisations such as Governments, Tier 1 accountants, Exchanges, Funds, and Blockchain Enterprises to advise on their Crypto Tax offering and meet regulatory requirements.
Managing Koinly.io’s relationship with the CRA and important financial institutions
Understanding and dissemination of updates or changes to the CAD tax regulations to the Internal team and customers through external communication
Representing Koinly at trade or industry events as a thought leader in this space
Publishing of documentation, papers, or press from a position of a thought leader
Obtaining specific advice from key advisors in associated matters
Special, complex non-tax projects from time to time
This role will be our in-house expert on Cryptocurrency tax regulations

You’ll succeed as our Head of Tax if you have…
Experience as a tax professional
Willingness to speak at key events and conferences
Senior management experience from a big firm preferred (Big 4 highly regarded)
Previous experience in Crypto Tax initiatives at a Mid to High Tier organisation a bonus
Recognition as a thought leader is a bonus
CA/CPA qualification or admission as a legal practitioner is required.

1st Interview with our recruitment team. We want to get a better sense of your experience and culture fit. Feel free to ask us those questions they tell you not to ask in the first interview. We know they matter. Let’s make sure there is a potential fit off the bat before we take up any more of each others’ time.
2nd interview and presentation with the hiring manager. This is where we take a deeper dive into some particular areas of interest for the role. We do not believe in tasks and making our candidates do homework, instead we will be sending you some interview questions in advance to give you time to think about your answer. No PowerPoint required.
3rd interview with the hiring manager. We will take a deep dive into your past experience to understand trends and motivations.
4th interview with a peer / HQ. This means we have short listed candidates and we are very interested! We will do a gut check, and look out for more examples of potential for success.
